Quote jumpers work by shared reference. When someone across the room recognises the line, you have made a friend in one second flat. When nobody does, you are wearing a sentence with no context, and people will read it literally and quietly form a view. There is no middle outcome.
The safe bet is the films everybody in Britain has actually seen at Christmas — Home Alone, Elf, Christmas Vacation, Die Hard if you are prepared to have that argument. The riskier ones are American classics that never became a fixture here, where the joke needs explaining and stops being a joke.

- Think first: a work party, where the quote may be family-friendly but the film is not
