Description
Matching knitwear for the whole family, hat included.
The traditional pattern is the sensible choice for a group buy. A design everyone can wear without embarrassment beats a funnier one that half the family refuses to put on, and a classic Fair Isle-style Christmas knit is about as close to universally acceptable as this category gets. It also photographs well, which is usually the actual reason a family buys matching jumpers.
Knit rather than print means it comes back out next year, which changes the maths on a multi-garment purchase. It also means heat: a family in matching knitwear in a warm living room after Christmas lunch is a family that will be taking them off by three o'clock.
Before the day
- Order well ahead. Matching sets fall apart when one size is out of stock, and that happens from late November
- Get everyone's agreement first — teenagers in particular
- Cool wash, dry flat; do not hang knitwear wet
- Take the photograph early, while everyone is still wearing theirs
