Description
Santa, defending his own existence, in a way that implies rather more than it says.
On the surface it is a joke about children doubting Father Christmas. In practice most adults read the second meaning instantly, which is obviously the point of the design. We are not going to be prim about it, but we are going to be clear: this reads as a statement, and the room will read it that way too.
Read the room
- Not for a family Christmas. Someone's mother is in that room and someone's child will ask
- Not for a work party. It puts colleagues in the position of having noticed
- Perfectly good among friends who came for exactly this
The garment is unremarkable in a way that is almost reassuring: a printed unisex crewneck at the seller's usual $64.99, comfortable in a heated room, good for a few seasons on a cold wash. It is the slogan you are buying, not the fabric.
If you like the Santa attitude without the implication, Bad Santa is the same price and a good deal easier to explain. Our piece on when a Christmas jumper goes too far covers the calculation properly.
