Made to be worn in pairs or packs, and photographed.
A "Naughty" and "Nice" matching sweatshirt set in soft fleece — his and hers, sold as a pair. Coordinated jumpers beat individually better ones at almost every Christmas party.
The reliable winner of the "best team effort" prize, and the reason is simple: coordination reads as commitment. Two people who planned something together are funnier than one person with an expensive jumper.
The set is soft fleece rather than acrylic knit, which is the right call for a couples outfit — you are both committed to wearing it all evening, and fleece stays comfortable in a warm room where knit does not.
Before you buy
Confirm the other person is definitely coming. Half of a two-part joke is not a joke, it is a question you will be asked every four minutes for six hours.
Take a spare standalone jumper in a bag if there is any doubt.
Be aware a matching set is a public statement about a relationship. If you are keeping something quiet at work, coordinate on not coordinating.
Also works well for couples at a family Christmas, where the audience is more forgiving than an office. Our piece on matching jumpers at the office party covers how this tends to play out.
