Description
A jumper dress rather than a jumper, with LEDs in it.
The appeal is straightforward: it solves the whole outfit in one decision. A novelty jumper still needs something to wear with it, and the standard answer — jeans — quietly undercuts the effort. A knit dress with tights arrives at the party looking deliberate.
It is knitted rather than printed, so it will keep its look across several years, and it is warm. That warmth is the catch indoors. A knit dress in a heaving venue is hot in a way a thin sweatshirt is not, and there is no layer to remove.
Before the day
- Test the lights on arrival and buy spare batteries — the pack is usually in a seam pocket
- Locate the off switch before you need it; hunting for it mid-conversation is the classic mistake
- Battery pack out before washing, then cool wash and dry flat
- Check the length on yourself — jumper dresses are cut short on anyone tall
- Too warm for a small indoor party; ideal for a cold venue or a walk between two
If you would rather have a jumper you can wear with your own clothes, the motion-activated light-up jumper covers the same ground. Either way, read what goes wrong with LEDs first.
