From across a room it reads as a conventional snowflake pattern, the most traditional Christmas motif there is. Up close the snowflakes turn out to be cats. That two-stage joke means people discover it during a conversation rather than being shouted at from the doorway.
It is a useful property for a long evening. Loud jumpers get their laugh in the first ten seconds and then have nothing left; this one keeps producing small ones as new people arrive.
