Description
This is a topical sweatshirt with a Christmas format, not a Christmas jumper with a joke on it.
The reference is to an ongoing criminal scandal involving the abuse of minors, which means the design is a statement first and festive clothing second. Whatever you intend by it, that is the order in which a room will process it, and some of the people reading it will have a strong reaction that has nothing to do with you.
We are not going to tell you what to think about the subject. We will be straight about the venue. A work party is the wrong place: colleagues cannot opt out of looking at it, HR has no sense of humour about anything involving that case, and "it was a joke" is a weak position to argue from at 4pm on a Monday. Among friends who already know your view, it will land as intended.
Read the room
- No: the office, anything client-facing, family Christmas with mixed ages present
- Think hard: a pub, where strangers form opinions quickly
- Fine: a night out with people who share the joke
Practically, it is a standard printed crewneck: sweatshirt weight, cool wash inside out, sized as adult unisex. If the goal is simply to be noticed, there are cheaper ways to do it that do not require a conversation afterwards.
