Description
Somewhere around eight, Santa stops being cool and animals do not.
That is the useful thing about this design. An animal print is festive without being babyish, which keeps it wearable at the top of the 5 to 14 range where a cartoon Father Christmas would be quietly refused. It also works for either child in a mixed-sex sibling pair, which halves the number of decisions.
Soft fabric is the other reason it stays on. Children abandon jumpers over texture far more often than over design, and a soft-handled sweatshirt survives a whole school day where a scratchy knit does not.
Before the day
- Size up if they are between sizes — nine-year-olds want their tops loose
- Wash inside out on cool, air dry, and the graphic will see two Decembers
- Show it to an older child before the day rather than presenting it on the morning
- Indoor layer only
Twenty pounds is reasonable for something worn repeatedly and handed down. For the younger end of the family, the 1-7 Santa sweatshirt covers ages this one does not.
