Description
Glitter print is a compromise between a flat graphic and sequins, with its own bad habit.
It catches light like sequins do, at a fraction of the price and without anything to snag. What it does instead is shed — glitter print sheds onto car seats, sofas, coats and anyone you hug, mildly at first and more as it ages. Nobody warns you about this, and it is the single most common complaint about glitter tops.
If that is acceptable, the look is genuinely good value. Twenty pounds gets you something that photographs like a considerably more expensive garment under party lighting, which is where most of these are seen.
Worth knowing
- It will shed. Not on your best coat, and not before a meeting
- Cool wash inside out, no tumble drier — heat is what loosens the print
- Festive rather than ugly; the wrong choice for a tacky-jumper contest
- Women's crewneck, standard sizing, sweatshirt weight
Good for the office party photograph and for the school gate. If you want the sparkle without the shedding, sequins are the more durable answer at a higher price.
