Description
Sequins are the one finish that actually works in a dark room with phone cameras out.
Flat printed slogans disappear in indoor photographs; there is not enough light and the ink has no depth. Sequins reflect whatever light there is, which is why they keep reappearing every December despite being the least practical thing you can attach to a jumper. If the office party photograph matters to you, this is the construction that survives it.
What it will not survive is careless washing. Sequins pull loose, snag on coat linings and bag straps, and dull if they are tumbled. A patch missing a dozen sequins looks worse than no sequins at all.
Worth knowing
- Cool delicate wash inside out, or hand wash. Never a tumble drier
- Sequins can scratch bare skin — a sleeve underneath helps
- Reads as festive and glamorous, not ugly; the wrong choice for a tacky-jumper contest
- Thirty pounds is at the top of the sequin range — check the coverage before committing
