Description
Retro prints have one genuine practical advantage, and it is not nostalgia.
A crisp, saturated graphic looks best on the day it arrives and worse every wash after. A deliberately faded vintage-style print is already halfway there, so the inevitable softening reads as part of the design rather than as wear. It is the closest thing this category has to a garment that improves with age.
Stylistically it sits in the acceptable middle: recognisably Christmassy, not remotely ugly, and calm enough for an office where a light-up reindeer would be a statement. Nobody will single you out, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on what you want from the day.
Choose this if
- You want festive without being the entertainment
- You expect to wear it more than a handful of times
- You dislike the plasticky feel of all-over printed polyester
Cool wash inside out and skip the drier — the fade should be the designer's decision, not the machine's. For an actual jumper contest, this will lose to anything with full-garment print, and it is not trying to win.
