Description
Real knit at this price is unusual enough to be the headline.
The reindeer pattern is worked into the fabric rather than printed onto it, which gives it texture, weight and the ribbed cuffs and hem that separate a jumper from a sweatshirt with a picture on it. For twenty-two pounds that is good value.
The design is cute rather than deliberately hideous, which puts it on the wearable side of the category. It will not win the competition, and it will get worn on ordinary days in January.
Worth knowing
- Acrylic yarn — warm and hard-wearing, worth something underneath if you are sensitive to it
- Warmer than a printed sweatshirt; consider whether your evening is indoors and heated
- Check the chest measurement — knit has less give than fleece, so sizing matters more
If you are buying one Christmas jumper and want it to survive several Decembers, knit is the decision that makes the difference. Printed sweatshirts rarely make it to a second season in the cupboard.
