The design is cute rather than deliberately hideous, which puts it on the wearable side of the category. It will not win the competition, and it will get worn on ordinary days in January.

- Warmer than a printed sweatshirt; consider whether your evening is indoors and heated

If you are buying one Christmas jumper and want it to survive several Decembers, knit is the decision that makes the difference. Printed sweatshirts rarely make it to a second season in the cupboard.
