It is a green knit pullover with an all-over Fair Isle pattern built around Buddy's "Son of a Nutcracker" line from Elf. The Fair Isle construction matters — rather than printing a graphic onto a blank, the design is worked into the knit itself, which is why it reads as a proper traditional Christmas jumper rather than a sweatshirt with a picture on it.
Everyone has seen Elf. Everyone likes it. Nobody holds strong opinions about it, and it is impossible to offend anyone with a nutcracker reference. If you want to take part properly without becoming the story of the evening, this is the jumper.
The cost of being that safe is that three other people may arrive in Elf jumpers and none of you will win anything. If you want an argument instead of a consensus, the Die Hard jumper is the other approach entirely.
