Sequins do something no print can: they move.
Under any kind of party lighting, a sequin patch catches light and draws the eye in a way flat ink never will. If you are going to be photographed — a work party, a family gathering with a dozen phones out — this is the construction that survives being shot indoors at night.
It is also the fragile one. Sequins snag on coats and bag straps, they pull loose if the garment is tumbled, and once a few have gone the patch looks patchy rather than sparkly. Treat it as a going-out top rather than a jumper you throw at everything for three weeks.
Worth knowing
- Hand wash or a cool delicate cycle, inside out. Never tumble dry
- Sequins can be scratchy against bare arms — a long sleeve underneath helps if you are sensitive to it
- Reads as glamorous rather than ugly, so it will not win a tacky-jumper contest
- Sweatshirt base, women's cut, standard sizing
