Fuzzy fleece is a comfort purchase, and it is worth buying it for that rather than for a party.
This is the warmest construction in the category and by some distance the softest. In a crowded venue it will be unbearable within the hour; on a cold morning at home, in a draughty kitchen, or on the sofa on Boxing Day, it is the best thing you own. The other thing to know about fuzzy fleece is that it sheds and it collects. Pet hair, jumper fluff and glitter from everyone else's tops all end up on it, and it pills where a bag strap rubs.

- You want a Christmas jumper for December at home rather than for one night out
- You are usually cold and consider that the main design problem
- You do not mind the maintenance — a lint roller becomes part of the arrangement
Cool wash, no fabric softener (it flattens the pile), no drier. For something you can actually wear at a party without overheating, a lightweight crewneck is the sensible companion buy.
