Description
Ten pounds, Santa and reindeer, and lighter than the word Christmas usually implies.
The title says sweatshirt in one place and tee in another; treat it as a long-sleeve top rather than a jumper and you will not be disappointed. On a toddler that is often the better thing to own — nurseries are hot, car seats are hot, and a child in a thick knit will be miserable and tell you so at volume.
It also washes like a t-shirt, which is the real argument at this age. Anything a two-year-old wears in December meets gravy, glitter and felt tip. Something you can put through a normal cycle twice a week without thinking about it is worth more than something nicer that you have to protect.
Before the day
- Buy a size up — toddler sizing is inconsistent, and sleeves that are slightly long are easier to live with than a top that is outgrown by Boxing Day
- Layer over a vest for cold days, under a cardigan for photographs
- Wash inside out and cool; the print is the part that ages, not the fabric
- Check the neck opening is generous enough — small children object to anything tight over the head
Sensible for nursery parties and for the fortnight where they need something festive on most days.
